Acclaimed for the elegance of her playing and her interpretations that blend raw sensitivity,authority and freedom, Fanny Clamagirand has established herself on the international stage for a number of years as artist and violinist of great distinction.

As Michel Le Naour (Classica, 2021) points out, “ the French violinist reveals herself as one of the most endearing musicians of her generation over the years with a flawless career where humility and constantly awakening curiosity blend in the quest for perfection. ”

Since winning prestigious awards and prizes, including First Prize “ Rainier III ” at Monte Carlo Violin Masters in 2007, “Adami Classical Revelation 2006” in France, First Prize F. Kreisler in Vienna in 2005, Emily Anderson Prize of the Royal Philharmonic Society in 2004 in London, Special Jury Prize Y. Menuhin in 2000, Fifth Prize H. Wieniawski in 1997, First Prize L. Spohr in 1995, ... Fanny has built her career on appearances in the most prestigious international concert halls and festivals.

In 2012, she performed outstanding debuts with the Wiener Philharmoniker at the Lucerne and Enescu Festivals, playing Mozart Sinfonia Concertante with Antoine Tamestit under the baton of Franz Welser-Möst, and with the London Philharmonic Orchestra in the Mendelssohn Concerto together with Fabien Gabel.

Fanny also appeared in the Arte TV ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ TV programme hosted by tenor Rolando Villazón.

For several years, she was a member of the Mutter's Virtuosi, an ensemble of young soloists led by the German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter.

Furthermore, Ms. Clamagirand is a regular guest on French and international radio and TV shows.

Two years in a row, her performances with orchestra were chosen to be broadcast live on Radio Classique special program “ Esprit Musique ”. In 2017, France Musique broadcast live her world premiere performance of the Violin Concerto Missing by Édith Canat de Chizy, with the Orchestre National de France under the direction of John Storgårds. Most recently her ambitious project of Beethoven complete piano & violin sonatas with pianist Roustem Saïtkoulov, was recorded live by the RTE Irish radio station at the West Cork Chamber Music Festival.

Additionally, over the years, her significant discography has received high praise and distinctions from the music press.
Her first album dedicated to Ysaÿe Six Solo Sonatas (Nascor ; 2007) has been particularly acclaimed. In 2010, she collaborates with the Japanese dancer and choreographer Saburo Teshigawara, in Tokyo, at the Bunkamura Theatre, performing live the sonatas in his new show “ Obsession ”.

La Tribune des Critiques de disques ”, a specialized programme on France Musique French radio channel, elects twice (2021 & 2023), blind listening, her interpretations (Peteris Vasks’s Distant Light violin concerto -Mirare 2020- and Saint-Saëns Violin Sonata 1 -Naxos 2013-) as reference versions.
Her new album of Florence Price violin concertos, with the Malmö Opera Orchestra and John Jeter, will soon be released under Naxos.

Born in Paris, Fanny started playing the violin at the age of seven. She was taught by Larissa Kolos, before entering Jean-Jacques Kantorow’s postgraduate course at the Paris Conservatoire in 2000, at the age of sixteen. This was followed by study with Itzhak Rashkovsky at the London’s Royal College of Music, where she obtained her Artist’s Diploma in 2004. She subsequently received coaching from Pavel Vernikov at the Wiener Konservatorium and at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Italy. At the same time, Fanny has taken part in a large number of masterclasses with Zakhar Bron, Ida Haendel, Donald Weilerstein, Michèle Auclair, Vadim Repin, Pierre Amoyal, Bruno Canino, Jean-Claude Pennetier and Shlomo Mintz, among others. She was also selected to join and perform at the Verbier Academy in Switzerland, the Keshet Eilon International Violin Mastercourse and the Musical Academy of Lausanne during her brilliant studies.

Nowadays, Ms. Clamagirand is regularly asked to be jury member at international competitions (F. Kreisler, H. Marteau, Music & Stars Awards, ...) as well as to lead masterclasses, in France and abroad. In 2019, she was awarded the Prix des Arts by the Académie d’Occitanie (Toulouse ; France). During the 23/24 season, she was one of the 'Jubilee Ambassadors' of the Bärenreiter music publishing house to mark their centenary celebrations.

Lately, Fanny Clamagirand was appointed artistic director of the "Classiques de la Villa Charlotte", a new international musical event in Les Sables d’Olonne, premiered in 2023.

Fanny plays on a Matteo Goffriller violin made in Venice in 1700.
